The Epsten Gallery Presents: “The Bloch Family: A Visual Legacy”
In celebration of H&R Block’s 70th anniversary, The Bloch Family: A Visual Legacy reflects the Bloch family’s unwavering dedication to Kansas City’s Jewish and arts communities. Henry and Richard Bloch further instilled this dedication to the community when H&R Block was founded. This legacy continues through Make Every Block Better, H&R Block’s community impact platform focused on bringing communities together and giving back.
The exhibition features works selected from H&R Block’s collection and personal artifacts that trace the family’s legacy in Kansas City. The works of Kansas City artists Tom Gragg, Matt Kube, Adolfo Gustavo Martinez, and Jason Pollen showcase themes of home, the Midwest, and the family’s deep ties to the region. Warm tones and serene depictions of familiar, grounded spaces invite the viewer to reflect on the shared experience of belonging. Many pieces also feature natural vistas, evoking the beauty of Kansas City’s open landscapes.
As you walk through the exhibition, we hope you will be inspired to reflect on your connection to the community and the legacy you wish to leave in a city that has so richly shaped us all.
